Presidente might be the go-to beer in Dominican Republic, but let’s be real—jugo de chinola is hands down the favorite juice. But I would say an ice cold morir soñado is a close second.

It’s the perfect drink for breakfast, especially con los tres golpes or a breakfast sandwich.

Use frozen passion fruit pulp

In the US, it’s not nearly as easy to find fresh passion fruits like it is in DR. That’s why we’re using frozen passion fruit pulp to get that authentic chinola taste in our jugo de chinola.

It’s the closest thing you can get to the fresh thing.

Pick the pulp with seeds

I like to use the pulp with the seeds because blending the juice with the seeds adds some extra chinola flavor, and it makes the drink a bit more authentic.

I grew up eating the seeds in passion fruit, so having them in my drink is totally normal. But you can just skip the seeds if you don’t care for the extra texture.

Add sugar to your liking

Passion fruit is naturally very sweet, so there are lots of sugar in the pulp. But adding a little bit of sugar makes this drink so delicious, so I recommend adding ¼ to ½ cup sugar.

If you prefer your jugo de chinola a little bit sweeter, go for ½ cup, otherwise add the sugar in slowly and taste to make sure you don’t make it overly sweet.
