¡Bienvenidos!

Hola, I'm Franchesca

If you love Dominican food, you’re in the right place.

Whether you grew up eating Dominican food every week or you’re discovering it for the first time, here you’ll find authentic Dominican recipes that stay true to our traditions without making you hunt down impossible ingredients or spend all day in the kitchen.

Most recipes come straight from my family, conversations with cooks across the Dominican Republic, and years of testing them over and over until they’re simple enough for anyone to make with confidence.

You’ll find everything from everyday staples like arroz blanco, habichuelas guisadas, and pollo guisado to Dominican desserts and picaderas.

I believe food is one of the best ways to understand a culture. Every recipe has a story, and my hope is that these recipes not only help you cook delicious food but also bring a little piece of the Dominican Republic into your kitchen.

Since launching My Dominican Recipes in 2020, this little corner of the internet has grown into one of the largest resources dedicated to Dominican cooking. Every recipe is developed, tested, photographed, and written by me because I want you to have the same results in your kitchen that I have in mine.

Whether you’re making your grandmother’s favorite dish, learning a recipe your partner grew up with, or simply looking for something new to cook tonight, I’m so happy you’re here.

The Story Behind My Dominican Recipes

The story behind My Dominican Recipes starts in a Dominican household in New Jersey, where there was almost always someone in the kitchen and something cooking on the stove. It’s where my Mami, Dad, and Abuela taught me the recipes I still make today and showed me that food is one of the best ways to bring people together.

I’m Franchesca Livraghi, a Dominican-Italian Chef and the creator of My Dominican Recipes. Here, I wear just about every hat, from cook, writer, recipe developer, photographer, and professional taste tester.

You’ll usually find me testing recipes, researching Dominican cuisine, and tracking down someone in Dominican Republic who knows more about a recipe than I do.

What started as cooking at home quickly turned into a passion for learning everything I could about Dominican food. I wanted to know not just how to make our recipes, but where they came from, how they changed from region to region, and the stories behind them. That passion led me to graduate from the Institute of Culinary Education in New York and build a career as a food writer, recipe developer, photographer, and content creator.

More than anything, I hope these recipes help keep our traditions alive and bring a little piece of the Dominican Republic into your home.
