Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp oil
  • ¼ red onion chopped
  • ¼ red bell pepper chopped
  • ¼ green bell pepper chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 2 tbsp sofrito
  • ½ tsp adobo
  • ½ tsp sazón
  • ¼ tsp oregano
  • A pinch of cumin
  • ½ cup tomato sauce
  • 8 pitted olives chopped
  • 1 cup water
  • Chopped cilantro

Instructions

  • Heat oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add the onion, red bell pepper, green bell pepper, and garlic. Cook, stirring occasionally, for 2–3 minutes until the vegetables are soft and fragrant.
  • Add the ground beef to the pan and break it up with a spoon. Cook until browned and no pink remains.
  • Stir in the sofrito, adobo, sazón, oregano, and cumin, and cook for another 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  • Stir in the tomato sauce, olives, and water. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer, then cover and let it cook on low for 15–20 minutes, until most of the liquid has been absorbed. Top with cilantro and serve. Buen provecho!
