Jugo de Avena (Oatmeal Juice)

Jugo de avena is a Dominican creamy oat drink you blend up, strain smooth, and serve ice cold with a little sugar and fresh lime.

Equipment

  • Blender
  • strainer.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup whole rolled oats
  • 1 can evaporated milk or 1½ cups milk
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 cups ice
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 2 limes

Instructions
 

  • Add the rolled oats, evaporated milk, and water to a blender. Blend until smooth and the oats are fully broken down.
  • Place a fine-mesh strainer over a large bowl or pitcher and strain the mixture to remove any remaining oat solids.
  • Add ice to the strained mixture and whisk until cold.
  • Add the sugar and whisk until dissolved.
  • Pour in the fresh lime juice and whisk until everything is well combined.
  • Taste and adjust the sugar or lime juice if needed.
  • Serve over ice and enjoy immediately.¡Buen provecho!
