Ingredients

  • 1 green plantain
  • Frying oil
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  • Cut off both ends of the plantain then make a shallow slice along the length of the plantain, from end to end, on each edge. Peel the plantain by pulling the skin away from the flesh. Use your fingers or a knife to help loosen the skin if needed.
  • Cut the plantain in half lengthwise. Take each half and cut them in half again lengthwise, so you have four quarters. Cut each quarter in half and then into thin strips, or fries, by slicing them lengthwise.
  • Heat oil in a pan over medium heat until hot. Carefully place the plantain fries into the hot oil, making sure not to overcrowd the pan.
  • Fry the plantain fries until golden brown and crispy, or about 5-6 minutes, flipping them halfway through to ensure even cooking.
  • Remove the fries from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil. Sprinkle with salt and serve hot with a side of pink sauce. Buen provecho!
